Pakistan Vs New Zealand Series Canceled

September 17, 2021 by Muhammad Amaan

Pak vs NZ series canceled

A piece of heartbreaking news for all Pakistan cricket fans. Just before the toss of the first match, the New Zealand team refused to play the series against Pakistan.

At first, the news came out that 3 of the New Zealand players are tested negative for the COVID-19. After that New Zealand made a stance that they have received some security concerns and they will be unable to play the match.

Team New Zealand refused to visit the Pindi cricket stadium. After that, they called off their complete tour of Pakistan by saying that they can’t take any step against the lives of their players.

No official statements are being made. Pakistan’s Prime Minister called New Zealand’s Prime Minister to settle down the things but still, they did not let the tour continue.

Shoaib Akhtar, while giving an interview to Geo News said, “NZ came after completer security assurance, now they have damaged Pakistan. How can you back off Even when a Prime Minister of a country is calling you to give assurance.”

“It is a big embarrassment to us. NZ can now say whatever they want but there was no such thread to run away. They said that they want full proof security, we gave them that but still, they did this to us.”, He added further.

pakistan vs nz trophy

Sikandar Bakhat said by pointing to India that, “Our enemy is more clever than us, they played a game against us and succeed. At first, the world said that ISI has beaten America, now ISI is saying you that there is no security concern in Pakistan and you are not willing to believe this.”

He said more, “I said Wasim Khan that don’t lay down in front of England Cricket don’t give them that much important, he still did that and now England has kicked us”.

Former Spinner Abdul Rehman called it pre-planned stuff to embarrass Pakistan. He called Pakistan a long live and an important part of the cricket world and will remain. The same stuff was done in Kashmir Premier League and not in this series.

Pak vs NZ Called Off

PCB’s Stance on Series cancel

PCB’s stance on this series cancel is as follow:

“Earlier today, the New Zealand cricket board informed us that they had been alerted to some security alert and have unilaterally decided to postpone the series. PCB and Govt of Pakistan made foolproof security arrangements for all visiting teams.

We have assured the NZ cricket board of the same. The Prime Minister spoke personally to the Prime Minister of New Zealand and informed her that we have one of the best Intelligence systems in the world and that no security threat of any kind exists for the visiting team.

The security officials with the NZ team have been satisfied with security arrangements made by the Govt of Pakistan throughout their stay here

PCB is willing to continue the scheduled matches. However, cricket lovers in Pakistan and around the world will be disappointed by this last-minute withdrawal.”

This is completely showing that PCB was willing to approve the security again and continue the tour. New Zealand ended up the tour by the one-sided statement.

Earlier today, the New Zealand cricket board informed us that they had been alerted to some security alert and have unilaterally decided to postpone the series.

PCB and Govt of Pakistan made fool proof security arrangements for all visiting teams. 1/4

NZ Stance On Series Cancel

“I understand this will be a blow for the PCB, who have been wonderful hosts, but player safety is paramount and we believe this is the only responsible option”, New Zealand Cricket Players Association chief executive Heath Mills said.

NZC chief executive David White said it was simply not possible to continue with the tour given the advice he was receiving.

But there is no complete clearance that what sort of advice he was receiving.

We’ve been across this process throughout and are fully supportive of the decision,” he said.

“The players are in good hands; they’re safe – and everyone’s acting in their best interests”, he added further.

The BLACKCAPS are abandoning their tour of Pakistan following a New Zealand government security alert.

Arrangements are now being made for the team’s departure.

Was British High Commision Involved in it?

At first, New Zealand said that they have received the news from British High Commission about the security concern. But the British high commission has clarified that they were not involved in any sort of this situation and they have nothing to do with New Zealand.

This Was Not the First Time By New Zealand

At first, when APS happened Pakistan was willing to call the match off and pay it one day after the APS. New Zealand refused to do this. Then at the death of an Australian player, they did the same job but not for Pakistan.

Pakistan was the team to visit New Zealand after the Christchurch attack. After that, they behaved badly with Pakistan when some of the Pakistani players test positive for COVID.

Social Media Reaction On Series Cancel

I don’t think fans could have been sadder than today. Panty of hates to New Zealand in no time but no one knows the whole story.

Shan Masood said, “Pakistan has made monumental efforts to get international cricket back on track. We’ve lost a lot with no international cricket for 6 years in the past and today might set us back again. The pulling out and the abrupt timing of the decision are extremely disappointing.”

“A very sad day for the game of cricket! When Pakistan was well on way for the revival of cricket, this unfortunate turn takes place. Pakistan has one of the best security agencies in the world and when u get that kind of security, it surely means it’s safe”, Umar Gul tweeted.

Pakistani skipper was disappointed as well and showed his love and belief in security agencies.

Extremely disappointed on the abrupt postponement of the series, which could have brought the smiles back for millions of Pakistan Cricket Fans. I've full trust in the capabilities and credibility of our security agencies. They are our pride and always will be! Pakistan Zindabad!

— Babar Azam (@babarazam258) September 17, 2021

Australian journalist Dennis marked Pakistan as the safest country in the world.

I've travelled to over 60 countries.

Pakistan was one of the safest

— Dennis (@DennisCricket_) September 17, 2021

I’m going to Pakistan tomorrow, who coming with me? 😉🙌🏿

— Chris Gayle (@henrygayle) September 18, 2021

Final Words

Now eyes will be on the next team tour in Pakistan that is England. England is supposed to come to Pakistan next year for two T20is. Challenges are increased for Pakistan cricket now. We hope all this stuff settles down as soon as possible.

The next one was the most famous kit of the Pakistan cricket team in the 1992 world cup. That was jersey when Pakistan won their first and only ODI World Cup.

In 1993 Pakistan used a jersey against South Africa that was completely white along with some green ribbons on the left arm and shoulder. In the same year jersey was changed against New Zealand that remained with Pakistan till 1994.

A full green version kit was used against New Zealand in 1995. A kit with a colorful ribbon was used by Pakistan in Wills World Cup 1996. A lot of kits were changed by team Pakistan in this period and then came the fan-favorite kit in the 1999 World Cup.

1999 World Cup kit of Pakistan is still ranked among the top kits ever used by any cricket team. From then Pakistan charged their kit almost every year. From 2012-13 Pakistan used the same kit.

Pakistan To Visit Bangladesh After 6 Years

September 14, 2021 by Umar Faizan

The Bangladesh Cricket Board Chief Executive officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury revealed today that the Pakistan Cricket team will visit Bangladesh just after the T20 World Cup.

This will be Pakistan’s first visit to Bangladesh after 6 years as they visited Bangaladesh back in 2015 under Azhar Ali. Now it’s time for Pakistan to visits the tigers again.

Pakistan Vs Bangladesh 2021

When will Pakistan Leave for Bangladesh?

Pakistan men’s cricket team will leave for Dhaka on November 15, 2021. Yes, you guessed it right they will leave after the very next day of the T20 World Cup final. Both the teams will fly from the United Arab Emirates to Dhaka, Bangaladesh.

Discussion is still going on between both the cricket boards to settle down the things and finalize the format and other stuff.

How many matches will be played?

Most importantly 2 test matches will be played which will be part of World Test Championship 2023. The schedule is then of 3 T20i matches but it is hoped that these T20i matches might get replaced by One Day Internationals.

The reason to replace these T20is with ODIs is that all the teams have already played a huge number of t20i matches before the world cup same goes for Pakistan and Bangladesh.

So, this might result in some ODI matches that will also be a part of the ICC Superleague.

2 Test Matches for World Test Championship 2021-23

The most important matches for both teams will be the two test matches that are supposed to be a part of WTC 2021-23. We all know that all the teams are now focusing on this big title of WTC as this initiative from ICC has increased the interest in test matches.

For now, Pakistan is at number 3rd in the World test championship table after India and England, While West indies are at 4th. Bangladesh is yet to play their matches in WTC.

Pakisatan Vs Bangladesh All Time Records

Pakistan is always been at the higher end when it comes to Pakistan vs Bangladesh. Let’s check out how good these two teams have done against each other.

Pak vs Bang Test Record

Matches Played11
Pakistan Won10
Bangladesh Won0
Draw/Tie1
Pak Win%90.9%
Bang Win%0%

Bangladesh is yet to win a test match against Pakistan. Both the teams have played only 11 matches against each other. Pakistan has won 10 out of them. While 1 match was drawn.

They played their first test match back in 2001 and their last test match in 2020. Now they are supposed to play two more important test matches.

Pak vs Bang ODI Record

Matches Played35
Pakistan Won30
Bangladesh Won5
Draw/Tie0

So, Pakistan is dominating in ODIs as well. They have played a total of 35 matches from which Pakistan has won 30. As Bangla Tigers won 3 matches on the last tour so they have beaten Pakistan 5 times in ODIs now.

Pakistan and Bangladesh played their first ODI match back in 1986 in John Player Gold Leaf Trophy. It was the second match of the tournament that Pakistan won by 7 wickets.

The most recent appearance for these two teams against each other was in the world cup 2019. Pakistan won that game as well, Shaheen became the youngest ever to get a 5-wicket haul in a world cup match. He also got Pakistan’s best figures in world cups.

Pak vs Bang T20i Record

Matches Played12
Pakistan Won 10
Bangladesh Won 2
Draw/Tie0

Pakistan’s domination continues here as well. Pakistan has won 10 T20i matches out of 12 against Bangladesh.

They played each other in T20is for the first time in 2007. Pakistan won that match by 30 runs. The last T20i and also the last international appearance against each other was in 2020. Pakistan won that match by 9 wickets.

Final Words

Hope these two teams keep playing each other and keep shining. We can expect more tours from Pakistan and Bangladesh to each other.

Matthew Hayden and Vernon Philander are Pakistan’s New Coach For WC

September 13, 2021 by Muhammad Amaan

As Misbah Ul Haq and Waqar Younis resigned from their posts of Pakistan coaching, Newly appointed chairman, Ramiz Raja called some foreign guns as expected.

Pakistan new caoches

Cricket Australia’s world cup winning opener Matthew Hayden is appointed as Pakistan’s new batting coach. While South Africa’s pace gun Vernon Philander is appointed as New bowling coach.

We will also see a Pakistani coach along with these two coaches in the t20 world cup 2021. There is no explanation about that coach. he might be someone between Abdul Razzaq and Saqlain Mushtaq. Mush is a strong contender.

Why foreign coahces?

The policy is straightforward from Ramiz. He wants Pakistan to play Fairless and strong cricket with an attacking mindset. This is been Ramiz’s thoughts for a long time now.

When does a journalist ask a question that why you selected foreign coaches when there are better local ones? Raja offendedly replied to him that these are just spare questions from you guys as if I selected local one you would say foreigns are better.

When will these coaches joining Team?

These coaches should join the team Pakistan as soon as possible. But because of this pandemic situation, they will be unable to join the team this quickly.

So Abdul Razzaq and Saqlain Mushtaq will continue their jobs for the upcoming series of Pakistan vs New Zealand. New coaches might join team Pakistan when England will visit.

Talking of England’s visit, most of the English players have opted themselves out of upcoming IPL in UAE. So, we will see a full-strength English team this time.

Ramiz Raja’s Press Confrence

Ramiz Raja had a press conference just after he was appointed as the new chairman as mentioned earlier. He clarified his thoughts that how is he going to work as the chairman.

He has also increased the salary of first-class players in order to keep their minds refresh and away from money thoughts. He said that now they plan to work for the coaches at the lower level and Women’s cricket as well.

Here you can watch the full press conference:

Final Words

With these few initiatives from Ramiz Raja, we can expect huge changes in Pakistan cricket in near future. Raja will execute his plans quite clearly and will not let anyone go against Pakistan cricket.

Huge Gains For Pakistani Players In Latest ICC Rankings

August 25, 2021 by Umar Faizan

After finishing the series on high notes Pakistani players shine in ICC rankings as well. Captain, Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Fawad Alam, Muhammad Rizwan, and Noman Ali gain well in ICC’s latest rankings and climbed up the table.

Shaheen Shah best againt west indies

Shaheen Shah’s Flight

Shaheen Shah started this series with 58 test wickets in 17 matches but this series turned to be his best one as he dismissed 18 batsmen in just 2 matches and got a total of 76 wickets in 19 matches at an average of 25.25.

Afridi is been shining across the formats for Pakistan from T20is to test matches now. Ion Bishop recently said Shaheen as “Diamond in a rough” in the first match between Pakistan and West Indies. Shaheen got 4 wickets in each innings of the first match. In the second match, he got 6 and 4 wickets in respective innings.

With his career best figures of 10/94 he became the fourth Pakistani bowler to take 10 match wickets at sabina park jamaica. Before Afridi, Imran Khan, Wasim Akram and Saeed Ajmal has done this job. All of these players took 11 wickets in match.

Career Best ranking for Shaheen

West Indies won the last test match series against Pakistan back in 2000. So it’s been 21 years now that West Indies have not beaten Pakistan in a test series.

Career Best To Fawad

Fawad Alam’s brilliant knocks in the testing pitches of Sabina Park Jamaica also gave him highest rating of his career. He scored half century in the first innigs of match one and an unbeaten 124* in the second match. With this century he became the quickest asian batsman to score 5 test match centuries.

Fawad overtook India’s Cheteshwar Pujara who score 5 centuries in 22 innings. Fawad scored it in just 22 innings. All of his 5 centuries have came in 5 different countries Pakistan, Zimbabwe, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, and West Indies.

After the match Fawad said, “Before the start of the match I called my Mother, she said to me go and play your game you will score the century, my father request me in joy as Fawad now it’s tiem to raise your bat in West Indies as well”. All those prayers form family and his efforts took him to his 5th test century.

Shaheen and Fawad Career best ranking

Fawad Alam is now ranked 21st in the latest ICC test batsman ranking. At 22nd is Azhar Ali and at 19th is Muhammad Rizwan. So from 19 to 22 is all for Pakistani batsmen.

Babar Getting Closer To Top Five

Last week Babar Azam over took David Warner and got the ranking of 8 in the table. Now this week after scoreing a very improtant fifty and a 30+ runs in second match, he is now ranked 7th in the ranking. Babar overtook Indian wikcet keeper Rishabh Pant.

Babar Azam has now 749 points in the ranking. His all time best is 800 vs Bangladesh. Babar Azam was the leading run scorer of the series against West Indies. Not only his batting, he has also got a lot pf appreciations for his captaining skill as well.

Rise To Rizwan And Noman

Muhammad Rizwan has also returned in the top 20 after scoring 31 and 10 not out in the scond match. Now he is ranked 19th among all the test batsman. Aiden Markarm also have equal points to him that are 651.

Left hander Noman Ali performed brilliantly in the second innings of the match. He took 4 crucial wickets for Pakistan in the last day. He started his career at 48th ranking and now he is ranked 44th.

Demotion to Hassan Ali, Muhammad Abbas, Azahar Ali, Abid Ali, and Imran Butt. Their rankings are 17th, 18th, 22nd, 48th, and 133rd respectively.

Social Media Reaction To Pakistan’s Victory

A lot appreciation came to Pakistan after this victory to level the series. 8 times a team has lost 3 wickets for 2 runs or less and only 2 times a team have won that. Both of time it’s done by Pakistan. Once against India and now against West Indies.

Special appreciation came to Shaheen Shah Afridi from all the experts and former players.

Ehsan Mani To Stay As PCB Chairman

August 24, 2021 by Muhammad Amaan

Imran Khan meet Ehsan Mani

Everyone is been discussing the future of PCB chairmanship, as Ehsan Mani, the current Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman has completed his time. Prime Minister Imran Khan said that there will be no further time will be given. Ehsan Mani’s 3-year tenure of chairmanship will end on September 4, 2021.

A private newspaper suggested that governing board has given two names for the future chairmanship. One name is of former test captain Ramiz Raja while the other one is of chairman of the Lahore Gymkhana, Dr. Jawad Sajid Khan. One of these would be appointed as the next PCB chairman.

Why Ehsan Mani Was Not Giving Extension?

Almost a month ago PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani was ready to get an extension but the decision was changed. The reason to change the decision was that plenty of officials especially government officials were unhappy with Ehsan Mani’s performance.

Pakistan Team lost to England’s B team badly and also Ehsan Mani was unable to handle the issues that rose in Kashmir Premier League when BCCI interrupted the league. This miss handling suggested everyone not give any extension to Mr. Mani.

Imran Khan Meet Ehsan Mani at PM Office

Ehsan Mani at PCB conference

Ehsan Mani called PM Imran Khan to have a future discussion about Pakistan Cricket. Prime Minister asked him to come to PM Office to have a meeting. On Monday, August 23, 2021, Ehsan Mani came to the PM office. In meanwhile, Imran Khan asked his friend Ramiz Raja to attempt the meeting as well.

According to private news, Ehsan Mani clarified the future aspects of Pakistan cricket and requested Prime Minister to keep him, chairman, for at least next year. The reason was different contracts and sponsorships related to team Pakistan and especially Pakistan Super League.

After the meeting, some media person approached Ehsan Mani and requested him to give some information about the meeting he said, “I am sorry I cannot comment on private matters.”

A worker who was very close in this meeting was asked the same question. “Unless and until we hear something from one of the participants no one could say anything. Nothing has come out so far so at this point I cannot say what was discussed,” he replied.

PCB recently had a contract with PTV for the coverage of live matches of team Pakistan. This contract was made for the next four years. The amount for this contract is over $200 million.

Why Ramiz Raja Was Called For The Meeting?

Ramiz Raja

Ramiz Raja is the next and strongest contender for the PCB chairmanship. PM Imran Khan himself suggested Ramiz be PCB chairman because of his unique ideas. Now the point of discussion is that if Ehsan Mani is continuing as PCB Chairman then why Ramiz Raja was called for the meeting by PM?

The answer to this question is that Ehsan Mani will now continue as PCB Chairman and Ramiz Raja will start working as well, not as PCB Chairman, but as deputy to Ehsan Mani. The News told that Ehsan Mani is likely to continue to be a PCB Governing Board member and ultimately contest elections as the chairman of the board for the second term in office.

Ramiz Raja will remain deputy until Ehsan Mani works and will be replaced when Mani will go back to the UK. “There is no clause in the constitution where a chairman can get elected for one year. The new chairman will be elected for a complete three years term. However, anything could happen in between. The chairman can resign due to health reasons or any change can take place in between.”

Ramiz Raja has played 57 test matches and 198 ODIs for Pakistan. Scoring 2,833 and 5,841 runs in test and ODIs respectively. Raja also has scored a total of 10 international centuries. He played international cricket for 13 years and was also the part of World Cup Winning Squad in 1992.

What Is The Future Of Wasim Khan?

wasim khan

Wasim Khan is the current CEO of PCB. Till now there is been no discussion about Wasim Khan and his future. Wasim Khan is been a very active and hard worker for the last 2 years. Currently, PM Imran Khan is advised that CEO Wasim Khan should be allowed to continue his work as Chairman Ehsan Mani has not given him any free hand to do whatever he wants.

Social Media Reaction On Ramiz Raja’s Selection

First of all, there is been a hell of a lot of meme stuff from Pakistan’s meme society regarding Hafeez and Raja, Yosuf and Raja, Misbah ul Haq, and a lot more. But on the serious side, many Pakistani cricketers and experts are appreciating the selection of Raja.

Kamran Akmal said, “Pakistan Cricket will get plenty of benefits If Ramiz Raja becomes the chairman”. Wasim Akram was among the happiest person for selecting Raja. Abdul Majid Bhatti, the Senior sports journalist, appreciated the selection and said that Raja has very unique cricketing ideas that will help Pakistan Cricket. He also mentioned his Youtube channel.

Conclusion

According to the all-news-related stuff, we can suggest that Ehsan Mani will remain as PCB Chairman for the next three years or will be replaced before Australia’s tour of Pakistan in 2022 or maybe after T20 WC. Ramiz Raja will keep working at some spot with PCB and will become the chairman in the future.

ICC T20 World Cup 2021 Shifted to Oman and UAE

July 3, 2021 by Umar Faizan

ICC T20 World Cup 2021, which was the 7th T20i World Cup was supposed to be played in Australia. Due to the pandemic, this T20 World Cup was shifted to India. This was decided by ICC back in 2020. But now as India is still suffering from the COVID-19 badly so International Cricket Council finally decided to shift this year’s World Cup to Oman and UAE as they have already postponed it once.

ICC T20 World Cup 2021

ICC CEO Geoff Allardice said, “Our priority is to deliver the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 safely, in full, and in its current window. Whilst we are incredibly disappointed not to be hosting the event in India, the decision gives us the certainty we need to stage the event in a country that is a proven international host of multi-team events in a bio-secure environment. We will work closely with the BCCI, the Emirates Cricket Board, and Oman Cricket to ensure fans can enjoy a wonderful celebration of cricket.”

No doubt that the event is shifted to Emirates but the hosting rights are still with India. ICC has clearly mentioned in their statement that BCCI still holds all the rights of hosting the event in the UAE and Oman.

Pakistan Super League is already been played in Abu Dhabi last month and the Indian Premier League is also expected to be played in Emirates as well. Therefore these stadiums were the best present choice for International Cricket Council right now.

ICC T20 World Cup 2021 Rules

West Indies Won The T20 World CUp 2016

A total of 16 teams participate in ICC T20 World Cup 2021 as mentioned earlier. These teams are selected according to their T20i team rankings. The top 16 teams are selected for the world cup. The Top 8 teams fall directly into the top 8 competition while the other 8 teams play the qualifying round. The top 8 of T20i right now are England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Australia, South Africa, Afghanistan, and West Indies.

In the qualifying round, the teams are divided into two groups named Group A and Group B. both the groups have 4 teams each. Two teams from each team qualify for the next round which is called Super 12. In the Super 12 round, there are already two groups named Group 1 and Group 2. The qualifying teams from the qualifying round are then included in these groups.

In the Super 12 stage, each team plays 1 match against all the teams in the respective group. The top 2 teams from both the groups qualify for the Semi-finals and the winner of the Semi-final qualifies for the all-important final which will be played in UAE this year.

ICC World Cup 2021 Favourite Teams

Kohli and Amir

As the ICC World Cup, 2021 will be played in UAE and Oman this time so Asian teams will have a great benefit from it. The tracks in UAE are spin-friendly so spinner will take charge in this year’s event. Teams with a better spinner will have more chances to top the points table.

When we talk of having the best spinner the first team that came into mind is none other than Afghanistan. Having Rashid Khan, Mujeeb ur Rehman, and Noor Ahmed in their squad give them a lot of strength. All the teams must remain repaired to face the spin sensation of Afghanistan.

According to our predictions, India and Pakistan will remain favorites for this year’s ICC World Cup 2021. First of all both these teams will have played a lot of T20 cricket before the world cup in the shape of PSL and IPL. Also, these two teams have batters who can face the spin quite easily.

ICC T20 World Cup 2021 Venues

As ICC T20 World Cup 2021 is shifted to UAE and Oman so the tournament will be played in 4 different venues. 3 venues are in the United Arab Emirates while the other one is in Oman. The venues are:

  • Dubai International Stadium
  • Sharjah Stadium
  • Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi
  • Oman Cricket Academy Ground

President BCCI Sourav Ganguly said: “The BCCI is looking forward to hosting the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 tournament in UAE and Oman. We would have been happier hosting it in India but considering the uncertainty due to the Covid 19 situation and the importance of a world championship, the BCCI will now continue to host this tournament in UAE and Oman. The BCCI is looking forward to creating a spectacle.”

Vice President Emirates Cricket Board, Khalid Al Zarooni said: “Emirates Cricket Board is honored that the BCCI (Board of Cricket Control India) and the ICC (International Cricket Council) have entrusted us with staging and delivering the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The UAE’s reputation as being a safe country in which to host high-profile sporting events is a strong complement to our government’s unwavering commitment to implementing and monitoring effective health practices during the pandemic. Having hosted several high-profile tournaments in recent months our team is well-prepared and ready to mobilize to ensure the success of the T20 World Cup.”

There are been a lot of facts related to ICC T20 World Cup history. India was the inaugural ICC T20 World Cup champion. They won the first-ever ICC World Cup under the captaincy for MS Dhoni back in 2007. Pakistan was the runner-up in that tournament but they fought back in the next tournament and won the ICC T20 World Cup in 2009 under the captaincy of Younis Khan.

Sri Lanka has played the most number of finals in the T20 World Cups that is 3. They have won only once by defeating India at Dhaka back in 2014. West Indies have won this World Cup twice which is not done by any other team yet. Maybe their record will be balanced this year.

ICC Champions Trophy To Be Played in 2025

June 2, 2021 by Muhammad Amaan

ICC issued the list of all tournament cycles in the Future tour Program (FTP). According to that report from ICC Pakistan will be defending the champions trophy in 2025.

Champions trophy pakistan

Plenty more changes in ICC tournaments were also seen from that report. Let’s cover the nitty-gritty of that.
ICC champions trophy was last played back in 2017. 8 teams participated in that tournament including the champions Pakistan, the runner-up India, the host England, Bangladesh, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and West Indies. All three Asian teams (Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan) qualified for the semi-finals along with the hosts England.

Pakistan lost their very first match against India. A lot of criticism came on team Pakistan but they positively took the criticism and made a sensible comeback. Fakhar Zaman made his debut against the ODI number one side of that time South Africa. He scored quick 31 runs and won the match for Pakistan by DLS method. Hassan Ali was the shining star of that tournament with the most number of wickets.

Fakhar Zaman scored a brilliant 100 in the finals and Pakistan got their very famous victory against India by 180 runs. Fakhar was the Man of the finals while Hassan Ali won the Man of the Tournament award.

After that tournament, everyone was waiting for ICC to announce when the Champions trophy will happen again. Now ICC announced that on Tuesday along with the plenty more changes in the other championships as well

New Tournament Rules

As per report from 2027 total of 14 international teams will take part in the cricket world cup making it a 54-match event. This rule will be applied from 2027. Talking of the current tournament, that is T20 World Cup, will have total of 16 teams 8 teams will be the part of 2 Groups and other teams will have tp qualify to that group level. 2 teams from each group will qualify to the semi-finals.

england won the CWC19

The T20 world cup is scheduled in India but due to the current situation, there ICC wrote a letter to them to shift the world cup to UAE. India asks ICC for some time and lets them have some talk on it. It will be finalized later now.

The T20 world Cup will turn into 20-team event and a total of 55 matches will be played. That means four more teams will be added in the T20 World Cup event from 2024, 2026, 2028, and 2030.

Talking of the 50-over world cup, it is currently a 10 teams tournament. 4 teams qualify for the semi-finals. The teams that qualified for the semi-finals in the last world cup were England, New Zealand, India, and Australia. The host England played the final against New Zealand and won the first-ever super over in the ODI history.

“An eight-team Champions Trophy will be hosted in 2025 and 2029. ICC World Test Championship Finals will be hosted in 2025, 2027, 2029, and 2031. The ICC Women’s event schedule has already been confirmed with the expansion of both the Cricket World Cup and T20 World Cup forming part of the ICC’s long-term commitment to growing the women’s game”, the ICC report stated.

Champions trophy cup

“The men’s Cricket World Cup will become a 14 team, 54-match event in 2027 and 2031, whilst the men’s T20 World Cup will be expanded to a 20-team, 55-match event in 2024, 2026, 2028, and 2030”, it added more.

T20 World Cup Format From 2024 onward

Total of 20 teams will take part in the event. These teams will be divided into 4 groups having 5 team in each group. Top two from each of the group will play the Super eight stages and 4 from these 8 will play the knockout matches of Semi-finals followed by final.

This is actually a great initiative from ICC to give chance to lower ranked teams as well to take part in ICC events and prove themselves. They will also get a chance to perform at big stages in front of whole world and 2.5 Billion cricket fans. We wish luck to all the teams.

Hbl Psl 6 to Resume From The Second Week of June

June 1, 2021 by Umar Faizan

The resumption date for the remainder of the PSL was announced as 1st June 2021 by PCB but after that, they announced that it will resume from the 5th of July. But now after some of the players of Quetta Gladiator were unable to travel to Abu Dhabi due to some visa issues.

Ehsan mani and muhammad wasim

Sarfraz Ahmed and Zeeshan Ashraf along with some others reached Bahrain today and will travel to Abu Dhabi by road. Still, match officials and broadcasters are unable to travel and some are in quarantine in Karachi hotel. 8 Indian broadcasters and 2 coaches reached the United Arab Emirates last Saturday. Broadcasters ensured the system is worthy and is set up as their will.

Along with them different players also reached various airports of UAE last Saturday. Most of them were South African. These players include Faf Du Plessis, Riley Roussow, Cameron Delport, and David Miller. Pakistan’s all-rounder Muhammad Nawaz also reached along with others.

The South African coaches Herschelle Gibbs and Michael Smith have also reached the United Arab Emirates. Initially, South Africa and India were on the red list due to the pandemic, so traveling in the meantime was a difficult task because the PSL was about to restart on June 5th.

Also, they have to complete the quarantine period as well as suggested by the UAE management so it will not be possible to start PSL on 5th June.

Moreover, the Pakistan team has to travel to England as well for their summer schedule against them. The date for Pakistan to leave was 23rd June 2021. But now it is getting really difficult, to sum up, the PSL 6 before this date. Therefore, PCB is contacting England Cricket Board to give them 2 more spare days after 23rd June to complete the ongoing tournament.

Before that PCB also contacted ECB to allow them to have PSL in England after there was no response from UAE. Before ECB replied the UAE gave the green signal to Pakistan to hold the PSL there with strict SOPs.

All other teams other than some players of Quetta have reached UAE. So, we’ll be unable to see Quetta Gladiator in action on the first day of resumption or if things get further delay they will be unable to play for 2 more days.

The match will be played between Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United as both teams have played only 4 matches each. All the others teams have played 5 matches each. We might also see doubleheaders throughout the tournament as well in order to complete the tournament ASAP.

All captains with trophy

All this stuff has given a negative message all around the world from Pakistan. Everyone will be talking to this miss management and all those visa issues. But if the PSL will successfully be finished then this will turn into a better and positive impact. But still, credits go to PCB to keep things going and rescheduling the PSL 6 in a very little space of time. We can hope that we will see tough competition in the remainder.
